Gluten Free and Gluten Containing food lists

I have been asked to post this on my site, so here it is. This is not a complete list… I do have a book that is great that I will sell you if you contact me, but products are changing all the time. As said before, read labels! Many companies are now making their products gluten free when they had been made with wheat previously. Always check. This is just a guideline.

Foods that are Gluten-Free

  • Amaranth
  • Arrowroot
  • Beans, legumes
  • Buckwheat and kasha (check labels)
  • Carob
  • Coconut
  • Cheese, plain (check label if shredded)
  • Coffee and tea (check labels if flavored)
  • Corn products including cornstarch, corn flour, cornmeal, corn grits (check label)
  • Cream cheese, cottage cheese
  • Distilled Alcohol
  • Distilled Vinegar
  • Eggs
  • Flax

 

  • Fresh and frozen vegetables and vegetable juices
  • Fresh fruit and fruit juices
  • Fresh meats and poultry, plain (check ingredients to make sure not basted or injected with a wheat-containing product)
  • Lentils
  • Milk, buttermilk, cream
  • Millet, quinoa, flax, sorghum, and flours derived from them
  • Nuts and seeds and flours made from them
  • Oil
  • Potatoes
  • Pure Herbs and Spices
  • Quinoa
  • Rice, including brown rice, basmati, jasmine, and Arborio, and rice flour (check labels)

  • Cheese sauces, cheese spreads, flavored cheeses
  • Communion wafers
  • Couscous
  • Croutons, imitation bacon
  • Dextrin’s
  • Dried fruits (may be dusted with oat flour)
  • Drugs and over-the-counter medications
  • Emulsifiers
  • Flavoring
  • Flour or cereal products
  • Food Starch
  • Gravy
  • Herbal supplements
  • Hydrolyzed vegetable protein
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Starch

A gluten-free product that is manufactured, processed, transported or packaged on equipment that also processes gluten-containing foods or grains is at risk of becoming contaminated.
